INDIANAPOLIS — Inspiration and motivation can come in a greeting card, and hospital patient Bryce Ryan wants a card from you.

Ryan broke his neck when he fell in a parking lot in April. For now, he is a quadriplegic. After spending the past eight weeks in Methodist Hospital, Ryan is searching for ways to stay positive.

His mother started a campaign for people to send him cards. He received 15 Thursday and 30 more on Friday.

Ryan is a high-functioning man with autism who has competed in the Special Olympics and has been active in his church. Those cards could be pivotal in his recovery.

"Being here so long, it's been depressing a little bit," Ryan said. "But getting the cards has shown me I can go farther."

Ryan said receiving cards has given him energy and the motivation to not give up.

"I can go farther. I can do more," he said.
