INDIANAPOLIS — RTV6 is getting some changes made for a family who reached out to us for help with an issue at their home that they said the city originally caused.

On Wednesday, we introduced you to Bennie and Judy Napier who have lived in their east side home for 60 years. They need their sidewalk, but they said a city snow plow damaged it in January and their calls to the Mayor's Action Center got no response.

There was finally some movement after RTV6 took these concerns to the Department of Public Works. Crews finally came out to mend the sidewalk Thursday as Bennie watched.

He said he is grateful the sidewalk is being fixed, but he is confused why it took so long.

"It bothers me a lot because I've been a taxpayer for 44 years," Bennie said. "I worked a union job, and I paid a lot of taxes in. And I feel like this I'm getting some of my money back. I felt great. I told my wife, 'Channel 6 paid off.'"

Bennie said he and wife won't have to worry about getting out to the doctor or other errands this winter now that the sidewalk has been fixed.
