INDIANAPOLIS — Kids will walk back to the classroom looking good after a fresh cut thanks to a local church.

Students sat down in the "Masters Touch Barbershop" chair for a free haircut on Monday. "New Direction Church" teamed up with Masters Touch and "Kenny's Academy of Barbering" for their yearly event.

About a dozen professionals helped on with the buzzing and cutting. The pastor of New Direction Church says it's essential for kids to return to school feeling confident and learn some lessons along the way.

"We have a chance to impact children for their entire lives because they'll remember the generosity we showed," Pastor Kenneth Sullivan Jr. said. "There's also mentoring moments; we kind of get to speak to the lives of the kids and put them in a good position as they get back to school."

Pastor Sullivan says they plan to continue to provide these free cuts for years to come.
