INDIANAPOLIS — Marion County law enforcement will be working to make sure sexual predators stay away from trick-or-treaters Saturday.
Sheriff Kerry Forestal says sex offender patrols will be working, and he says registered sex offenders living in Marion County should expect a visit. "We will have additional deputies out there, checking out the sex offenders," said the sheriff.
Most Halloweens, registered sex offenders are required to report to the sheriff's facility at East 10th and Post Road, but COVID-19 concerns make that impossible this year.
"Unless they have prior permission to be out somewhere, otherwise we will check on them with probation, we've done that before, but probation would violate them if they don't follow those rules," said Forestal.
If you see a known sex offender passing out candy on Halloween, call 911 right away.
