INDIANAPOLIS — As Black Friday wraps up, many shoppers are gearing up for Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday is one of the biggest days of the year for small businesses on Mass Ave., and Amy Minick Peterson, who owns Decorate, said she is ready.
"We are doing some specials, and we have surprises ready," Minick Peterson said. "We are a part of a community. We love all of our neighborhood. They support us. This is what makes a city strong."

Decorate is just one of several businesses participating with the Massachusetts Avenue Merchants Association. More than a dozen will open at 9 a.m. Saturday with free swag bags available for the first few customers. Club Pilates is another business that will participate.
"I think supporting your community is really important," Club Pilates owner Alexis Ingram said. "All of our employees work and live here Downtown, and so just keeping that connection with the community is really important to us."
Chantel Stone with the Massachusetts Avenue Merchants Association said many of the small businesses are what make Mass Ave so unique.
"The money goes right back into the community," Stone said. "These folks that work at the stores, they have staff and they live downtown, so the money goes right back into their families and the local economy. The little businesses are what bring charm and heart to Mass Ave. People love being able to walk in and talk to the merchants and get the attention that you're not going to get in big box stores or online."
