When Rascal Flatts first burst onto the music scene with hit single “Prayin’ for Daylight,” nobody had even heard of an iPhone and “Friends” was still airing new episodes.

But now, 20 years and 16 hit singles later, Rascal Flatts has grown into a legendary country music band. And finally, the group has announced on CBS This Morning that they are heading out on a farewell tour before they retire from Rascal Flatts and seek new adventures.

The band also shared the bittersweet news on Twitter, stressing that “This year, and this tour, is all about YOU.”

The three Rascal Flatts members (Gary LeVox, Joe Don Rooney and Jay DeMarcus) shared that part of the reason why they are ready to take time off is due to the uber-competitive music industry and the feeling that they always need to “top” their last hit or their last tour.

The tour kicks off at the Ruoff Music Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 11, and tickets will first be available as part of the Live Nation Country Megaticket.

Check the Rascal Flatts website or the band’s social media accounts for more information about when tickets will be available for purchase.

Along with the farewell tour, the country group also plans to release new music in 2020. And it’s not only country music fans who will love these new tunes.

In discussing their music, the band shared that they believe “pop music is today’s country music” and their new songs are going to have more of a mainstream sound than ever before.

The band also suggested that they each may work on individual music after the farewell tour has wrapped, although bassist Jay DeMarcus joked that he personally plans to open a Chik-fil-A.
