INDIANAPOLIS — The pandemic can be especially hard on the most vulnerable in our communities and Anthem Medicaid is working to help connect those in need to relief.

The Indianapolis-based organization is working to check on people during the stay at home order.

Kimberly Roop, the president of the organization, says representatives have made thousands of calls to check on people, especially people with chronic conditions, mental health issues, and disabilities.

Roop says people should with their employer or insurance company if you come across uncertainty with health care coverage.

"Certainly when it comes to Medicaid, we are here to help serve our customers, so call the number on the back of your card and just share with them and be very candid about the situation they are in," Roop said.

Telemedicine is one good thing coming out of this difficult time. Roop says this is allowing for people to get more help from home.

Anthem is donating personal protective equipment and other supplies to those in need.
