INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced the 2016 Brickyard 400 will be named for the charity of a retired U.S. Navy Seal.
This year's race will officially be called the Crown Royal Presents the Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard.
The Combat Wounded Coalition was founded by retired U.S. Navy Seal Lt. Jason Redman.

Redman enlisted in the Navy at 17 in 1992. He was commissioned a Navy Special Warfare Officer in 2004 and deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. While serving in Fallujah, Iraq, Redman was struck seven times in the face and arms by machine gun fire.
Redman was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries in service to the country, along with the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Navy Commendation Medal and two Combat Action Ribbons.

After retiring from the military, Redman founded Wounded Wear in 2009. The organization donates clothing kits to soldiers hurt in combat and to families of fallen soldiers.
Redman is also the author of a memoir, "The Trident: The Forging and Reforging of a Navy SEAL Leader."
