Indianapolis Colts wide receiver LaVon Brazill was suspended without pay for at least a year, league officials announced Thursday.
Brazill was suspended because of a violation to the NFL’s substance abuse policy, according to an NFL report.
Brazill was suspended for the first four games last season for a drug violation. He said at the time it was for marijuana use.
He spoke about the suspension last season after he came back to the team, saying he was going to change his ways and choose his career over drugs.
"It was my mistake. I shouldn't have did that. They are gonna stay with me, and it's either money or marijuana and I know any one of you would choose money any day so that's gone and I'm choosing money," Brazill said in 2013.
Colts spokesman Avis Roper said the team had no comment after the league's announcement.
Brazill was in the running among other receivers to possibly make the team this year, but that was looking more doubtful with the drafting of a rookie wide receiver and the signing of Hakeem Nicks.
Brazill has played for the Colts for two years, with nearly 350 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
