Dungy coached the Colts from 2002-2008, during which time Manning was the starting quarterback.
The two qualified for the playoffs every season while both were members of the Colts, and were part of the Super Bowl XLI championship team.
In a video, Dungy says Manning had one of the "most storied careers in the history of football."
"All the records, all the accomplishments, the Super Bowl rings, the MVP trophies, to me only says a little bit about Peyton Manning. For 18 years he has been an exemplary leader in the community, done some special things in Indianapolis and Denver and Tennessee. I just want to say, Peyton, congratulations."
