INDIANAPOLIS -- The search for a new head coach for the Indianapolis Colts is back on.
Hours after being announced as the new Colts head coach, the team announced that Josh McDaniels has decided to stay in New England.
"After agreeing to contract terms to become the Indianapolis Colts' new head coach, New England Patriots assistant coach Josh McDaniels informed us that he would not be joining our team," the Colts said in a statement issued Tuesday evening.
The search for a new head coach is expected to resume immediately.

"After agreeing to contract terms to become the Indianapolis Colts’ new head coach, New England Patriots assistant coach Josh McDaniels this evening informed us that he would not be joining our team. Although we are surprised and disappointed, we will resume our head coaching search immediately and find the right fit to lead our team and organization on and off the field."

It was a roller coaster ride over the last few days as speculation on whether or not McDaniels would be the Colts' new head coach was flying. Last week, reports surfaced that he would indeed accept the job but early Tuesday morning several sources reported that he was having second thoughts.

Although when the Colts made their announcement on Tuesday, everything seemed good to go and a press conference was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon to introduce McDaniels as the new Colts Head Coach.
Then in a shocking turn of events, ESPN reports surfaced Tuesday evening that McDaniels had a change of heart and would remain with his Patriots.
The Colts confirmed those reports a short time later saying their search for the "perfect fit" would resume immediately.
