WESTFIELD — A new partnership between the city of Westfield and the Colts is underway this year at the Grand Park Sports Campus.
Crews are busy finishing work on the campus in preparation for training camp, which begins July 25.
Hundreds of volunteers are also completing training. Victor McCarty of Westfield will be one of those volunteers working in the general information and ticketing area.
"We want to make sure every person who comes to training camp is welcome with open arms and we get to showcase what Westfield is all about," McCarty said.
Lori Dubach, another volunteer, says the Colts camp is a great opportunity for people to come see what the city has to offer. "It's huge. Westfield has grown so much in the last 10 years. Grand Park was not even in existence. The city has exploded recently with that addition," Dubach said.
This year is the first of a 10-year partnership between the city of Westfield, Grand Park, and the Colts. With the partnership comes changes that fans need to prepare for.
Chelsea Durham with the Indianapolis Colts says one of the biggest changes is that this year's camp is a free but ticketed event. "We are encouraging camps to go online before coming to camp. Go online to colts.com/camp. Every email address, you can get six tickets per day," Durham said.
Other details to note about camp:
- The clear bag policy is in effect.
- Bleacher seating is general admission, so it's first come, first served.
- Alcohol will be sold during camp.
- There will be several themed days, which are filling up fast.
- A Colts City will be open daily.
There are still 270 volunteer spots that need to be filled for all 18 days of the camp.
