Indiana falls way short at Rutgers, losing 59-50 to Scarlet Knights

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — After an impressive win Saturday in Bloomington against Ohio State, Indiana traveled to New Jersey Wednesday and fell flat at Rutgers.

The Scarlet Knights went up 12-0 to begin the game and the Hoosiers could never fully recover. Rutgers led by seven at halftime and as many as 17 in the second half and won the game 59-50.

Indiana is now 13-4 and 3-3 in the Big Ten. Rutgers is 13-4 and 4-2.

The Hoosiers shot just 31% and saw their bench outscored 17-2 by the Scarlet Knight's second unit.

Justin Smith led IU in scoring with 15 points.
