2017 Indy 500 pace car unveiled

INDIANAPOLIS -- The car that will lead the field to start “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” was unveiled in downtown Indianapolis Friday morning.

A 2017 Chevrolet Grand Sport will be the official pace car for the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500.

Chevrolet Racing Senior Manager Jeff Chew was joined by Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles to introduce the Corvette at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse Friday morning.

This is the 28th year that Chevrolet has provided the official pace car for the Indianapolis 500 and the 14th year that car has been a Corvette. 

The 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 will take place on Sunday, May 28, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
