INDIANAPOLIS -- Spencer Pigot was able to climb out of his vehicle after crashing during practice for the 101st running of the Indy 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday.
IMS officials say Pigot was checked and cleared to drive by IU Health.
Pigot's car suffered significant damage when he hit the wall during turn 2.
Pigot races for Juncos racing. He finished 25th in the 100th running of the Indy 500 last year.
