GMA's Ginger Zee to host Indy 500 Red Carpet

INDIANAPOLIS -- Good Morning America's Ginger Zee will host the red carpet at this year's 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.

Zee, a Valparaiso graduate, is the chief meteorologist for ABC News. She's currently a finalist on this season of "Dancing With the Stars."

“As we prepare to host the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500, we want to celebrate this epic race in every way possible. Having ‘Good Morning America’s’ chief meteorologist Ginger Zee adds celebrity and even more fun to our red carpet. We hope Ginger will also bring good racing weather with her!” said Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles. “Ginger Zee will be introducing a terrific lineup during a lead-up to the green flag that you won’t want to miss.”

Other stars expected to appear on the red carpet include:

  • Mario Andretti – 1969 Indianapolis 500 champion
  • David Anspaugh – Director, “Hoosiers,” “Rudy”
  • Robert Herjavec– Entrepreneur, “Shark Tank”
  • Martin Garrix – Record producer/musician, 100th Indy 500 Snake Pit performer
  • Akbar Gbajabiamila – NFL player, “America Ninja Warrior” host
  • Nick Gehlfuss – Actor, “Shameless,” “Chicago Med”
  • Kym Johnson – Professional dancer, “Dancing With the Stars” champion
  • Josh Kaufman – “The Voice” champion, 100th Indy 500 “Back Home Again in Indiana” performer
  • Chris Pine – Actor, 100th Indy 500 Honorary Starter
  • Angelo Pizzo – Writer/Producer, “Hoosiers,” Writer, “Rudy,” Writer/Director “My All American”
  • Richard Rawlings – Entrepreneur, race car driver, “Fast N’ Loud” host
  • Darius Rucker – Grammy Award-winning artist, 100th Indy 500 national anthem performer
