INDIANAPOLIS -- The sports landscape evolved a little more in 2013 when The Indy Eleven launched its first season in the North American Soccer League.

The Colts drafted a rookie quarterback named Andrew Luck, who led them to the playoffs.

And the IndyCar season features four 1st-time winners, the most in 48 years.

All Tony Kanaan wanted is his first win at Indianapolis in what would be his 12th attempt.

It didn't disappoint: The 97th running of the Indianapolis 500 is an instant classic.

The race features a record 68 lead changes involving 14 different drivers. The 23-year old 500-mile speed record of 185 miles an hour is broken by nearly two miles an hour.

Kanaan makes the final pass of the race on Lap 198, just before his friend Dario Franchitti hits the wall in Turn 2.

Ironically, the fastest race in 500 history ends under caution with Kanaan making his long awaited trip to Victory Lane.
