Former U.S. soccer star, Indianapolis native and Ben Davis High School graduate, Lauren Holiday shared her first photo post-brain surgery via Instagram on Mother’s Day.
Holiday’s post read: “I have been hiding myself from a camera for the past 7 months. I didn't want anyone to see my paralyzed face, my eye that is now crossed, the bald spots from radiation & my half shaved head.”

Holiday, the wife of NBA player Jrue Holiday, was diagnosed with a brain tumor while she was pregnant with the couple’s first child in late 2016.
In September, Holiday’s labor was induced and the couple welcomed a healthy baby girl - Jrue Tyler Holiday. One month later, she underwent surgery to have the tumor removed.
Holiday, who retired from soccer in 2015, was among the world's most respected players in the women's game during a career highlighted by Olympic gold medals with the U.S. national team in 2008 and 2012, and FIFA World Cup title in 2015.
