McDermott off the bench with 28, Sabonis a triple-double in win at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — The Pacers excelled in the first and fourth quarters and got some quality individual performances in a 116-106 win over Charlotte.

Indiana, in winning for the third time in four games, outscored the Hornets 36-19 in the opening period. But in the second and third quarters, Charlotte had a 61-48 advantage.

Doug McDermott took over in the final period, scoring 16 of his game-high 28 points over the final 12 minutes, as the Pacers would go up by as many as 12 points.

Besides McDermott, Domantas Sabonis had a triple-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Malcolm Brogdon added 25 points.

Former Butler star Gordon Hayward, now with the Hornets, had 16 points. Washington Indiana's Cody Zeller hauled down 14 rebounds for Charlotte.

The Pacers are now 11-7, the Hornets fall to 7-11, and the two teams will meet again Friday night in North Carolina.
