CARMEL, Ind. -- Peyton Manning, known for being a positive role model within the community, sent a letter to the staff of the Crooked Stick Golf Course to congratulate them on a successful BMW Championship in 2016.

"I know you faced some tough conditions over the last month and went above and beyond to make sure Crooked Stick remained in immaculate condition and was a great host for the best players in the world," the letter read. "Please enjoy some Papa John's and Budweiser on me tonight."

We're not sure if Peyton actually sent the course pizza or beer for them to enjoy, or if that was just Peyton being Peyton.

It rained off and on throughout the weekend, causing issues for the course, which made it especially impressive to pull a successful event.

Dustin Johnson, 32, won the event and took home a $1.53 million check.

“Obviously, my performance this week was fantastic. The BMW Championship is a big event, with a lot of guys around the lead. I played some really solid golf the past four days,” said Johnson. “I've got a lot of confidence in every part of my game.”

Despite the weather issues, 124,000 fans came to Carmel to watch the BMW Championship over the weekend.
