WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- A Purdue student battling a rare form of cancer who has been using his fame to help cancer research was honored with a prestigious award on Wednesday.
Tyler Trent received the Sagamore of the Wabash, Indiana’s highest civilian honor.
Tyler gained national attention when he attended Purdue’s upset win over Ohio State earlier this season. Since then, he’s been raising money for the Tyler Trent Cancer Research Endowment to support cancer research at Purdue University.
The campaign has already topped more than $100,000.
Huge thank you to @GovHolcomb for choosing me as The recipient of this award. I feel undeserving to be included amongst the amazing list of other incredible previous recipients. https://t.co/jKPd5ZpHSX
