BLOOMINGTON — Inconsistent. It's the only way to describe the Indiana men's basketball team at this point in the season.
Last Thursday, the Hoosiers pulled off an impressive 81-69 win at #4 Iowa. Three days later, Indiana fell at home to a Rutgers team that had lost five straight.
The 74-70 loss at Assembly hall Sunday drops IU to 4-5 in the Big Ten and 9-7 overall.
The Scarlet Knights owned a five point lead at the half and were up by 14 with 12 minutes to go in the game. Then with 43 seconds to play, Indiana's Trayce Jackson-Davis hit a pair of free throws to make it 73-70 Rutgers.
That was a close as it would get.
Armaan Franklin led Indiana with 14 points. The Hoosiers next scheduled game, January 30 at Michigan, has been postponed because of COVID issues at Michigan.
