INDIANAPOLIS — The month of May means racing in the Circle City. And the first race isn't for the IndyCar drivers - it's for runners.

On Saturday, there will be a lot of closures downtown as the 500 Festival Mini Marathon gets underway.

Here's the route Mini Marathon runners will take:

Runners will line up in waves at the starting line on Washington Street, just past West Street.

They'll continue on Washington, head up White River Parkway, then head westbound on Michigan Street before continuing northbound on Holt Road, westbound on 10th Street and then making their way northbound on Main Street.

And finally - now here's the fun part - runners will then get their chance to take a lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!

They'll exit the speedway and head south on Olin Avenue, making their way to 10th Street once more, but this time they'll go eastbound.

They are eventually weaving their way through little streets until reaching the finish line at Military Park.

Keep in mind, aside from the apparent race course closures, there will also be downtown closures.

Take a look at this map:

Major streets closing include:

  • New York Street, starting at 6 p.m. at Friday.
  • West Street, starting at 1 a.m. on Saturday.
  • Washington Street, starting at 3 a.m. on Saturday.

All roads are expected to be back open 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
