Average first freeze dates in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS -- Temperatures have been running well above normal for much of the fall season so far.  In fact, in Indianapolis the temperatures has yet to dip into the 30s.  On average that should have already happened.  While there is no real cold air in sight, the next few weeks the cold air will get here eventually and we’ll see our first widespread freeze.

 A widespread freeze usually occurs when the temperature hits 32 degrees.  The average date for that in Indianapolis is Oct 14.  In Bloomington it is a little later on Oct 24th.  To the north in Kokomo it is Oct 12th. We will safely get past all these dates with ease.
