Flooding issues possible with heavy rain lasting into the weekend

and last updated

Rain chances are on the rise! Wet weather is likely across much of Central Indiana through Saturday.

Setup and Timing
Rain is expected to be fairly widespread Friday and Saturday, as a series of low pressure systems bring waves of rain to Central Indiana. A few rumbles of thunder are also possible Saturday. With already gusty winds, a few stronger storms can't be ruled out.

Truecast shows when rain is most likely to impact your plans. It still looks like the bulk of any wintry weather stays off to our NW Saturday night.

Rain timeline

Rainfall Potential
The area of heaviest rain is expected to fall across NW portions of Central Indiana. That said, all of us can expect widespread rainfall with totals ranging from 1-4". A few NW spots could top the 4" mark.

A Flood Watch is in effect for many of us from 7pm Friday to 7pm Saturday. This is when some of the heaviest rain is expected to fall, and when flooding issues are most likely.

All of this rain is expected to result in quick rises on several Indiana waterways. This is likely to cause minor to moderate flooding along portions of the White and Wabash Rivers, with crests happening late Sunday and Monday.
