INDIANAPOLIS -- With Halloween quickly approaching and many of you trying to figure what you and your kids as going to wear, we take a look back into history and see what kind of weather you might expect.

The past few years have been more of a trick than a treat to us.  Last year was dry and mild, but you don’t have to go too far back to find our wettest Halloween on record as well as the snowiest.   2013 brought over 2 inches of rain making it the wettest on record.  The following year featured cold temperatures and flurries with an official 0.1” of snow recorded at the airport in Indianapolis.  Statistically speaking with records being kept since 1871, there is about a 34% chance you could see some form of precipitation on Halloween.

You are mostly likely to see temperatures in the 50s or 60s for Halloween but there have a few years where it has been much warmer or colder.  We hit the 80 degree mark twice with 1950 producing a high of 82 degrees.  On the flip side, the coldest temperature recorded on Halloween was 24 degrees back in 1988.

Looking at weather models next week will be chilly but it looks as we get closer to  the 31st  temperatures return to most seasonable levels.
