Remember the warm start to October? The first ten days of the month brought very warm days with highs well into the 70s and 80s. That sure changed. A 16 day stretch of below average temperatures followed.
So, is that it for the warmth? Are we zipping through fall and into the chill of winter? The outlook for November does suggest cooler than average temperatures can be expected. That said, the Climate Prediction Center admits, "The revised November forecast contains a lot of uncertainty, especially with respect to the temperature outlook."
Temperatures actually start off the month right around the average in the upper 50s. Models split for the second half of November, but favor a turn back to the cooler side of things. That's as our average high slides into the mid 40s and lows into the 20s.
Meanwhile, you might want to hold onto that umbrella you needed for the end of October. The November outlook is looking rather wet. In fact, above average precipitation is expected across all of Central Indiana. A large part of this comes from an active first week of the month. November typically brings more than three and a half inches of rain.
We also have to talk about snow! November 19th is when we usually see our first snow, but we typically don't get much with an average of less than one inch.
