Fall is a season of change. Here's what we're expecting this year:
Summer is over already? It seemed like a quick season, but with the last weekend of summer behind us, we are looking ahead to fall.
What does the new season hold for central Indiana? I’m sure most of us are hoping it brings more rain. Much of the western half of the state is running “abnormally dry."

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center actually doesn’t indicate a strong signal toward above or below average. They place all of us in the “equal chances” category. Another way of looking at it is a 33.3% chance of above, below or near average precipitation. We average about 10” of precipitation and around 8” of snowfall.
That also means we see a big temperature change, during the fall season. We go from an average high in the lower 70s in early October to highs averaging the mid 30s by the end of December. The outlook for this fall suggests temperatures favoring the above average side of things.
Keep in mind, we can still have cold spells. It is a transition season in Indiana, after all!
