Wednesday's storms came one after another, with multiple storms producing tornadoes in the area throughout the evening.
The first tornado warnings sounded at 2:55 p.m., near Crawfordsville, Indiana. An EF2 tornado was reported in Montgomery County. Wind speeds in that tornado reached between 111-135 mph. It was seen northwest of New Ross, Indiana.
About an hour later, the first tornado was spotted in Kokomo.
The tornado that destroyed a Starbucks and other homes in Kokomo was classified as an EF3, which means wind speeds could reach 165 mph. The NWS said speeds were measured at 152 mph, a revised number released Thursday, up from Wednesday's estimate of 136 mph.

Two more tornadoes confirmed by the NWS as rated EF1 also touched down in parts of Carroll and Howard counties.
Another tornado was confirmed by the NWS to be an EF0 in Indianapolis, but no major damage was reported.
Just after 6 p.m., a tornado was reported in Peru, Indiana.
The last warnings ended at about 9:45, a 7-hour stretch from the first one.
