INDIANAPOLIS -- We've enjoyed cooler temperatures and quite a bit of rain in recent days, but we're about to flip that pattern completely with some serious heat arriving by this weekend.
An excessive heat watch is already up for northern Indiana for Friday and Saturday with a heat advisory for much of central Indiana.
High temperatures return to the 90s Friday and will last through the weekend.
We're also going to crank up the humidity, which means heat index values will top 100 degrees for three days in a row.
The "Feels Like" numbers will be near 105 degrees on Friday afternoon, 110 degrees on Saturday afternoon and 100 degrees again Sunday afternoon.
The hottest hours to avoid the outdoors will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
If you do have to be outside, be sure to take frequent breaks and drink plenty of water.

City officials say they will be monitoring the heat. In the meantime, the Office of Public Health and Safety is urging you to:
- Stay hydrated.
- Check on relatives and neighbors, especially the elderly and those without access to air conditioning.
- Avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
- When outside, wear light, loose-fitting clothing and take frequent breaks in the shade or an air-conditioned room.
- Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke and seek medical attention if symptoms occur.
- Pay special attention when locking up vehicles to ensure no children or pets are left inside. Temperatures inside a car can become lethal in a matter of minutes.
- Bring pets indoors and ensure they have plenty of water to drink.
Throughout the weekend, public buildings and spray grounds will be open across the city to help residents stay cool. A schedule of Indy Parks facilities is here and Indy Public Library hours can be found here.
As rain chances return next week, we should get a little relief from the heat.
