INDIANAPOLIS — The Midwest Black Restaurant Week is back in Indianapolis with an emphasis on take-out and delivery.

The event is held by "Black Restaurant Week." The organization works to celebrate the flavors of Black, African American, African, and Caribbean cuisines nationwide.

The event for the Midwest region was first put on last year in Indianapolis alone. This year, 11 different cities are taking part in Midwest Black Restaurant Week.

Organizers are waiving participation fees this year because of “financial uncertainty and with the unfortunate escalation of racial injustice events."

Some restaurants will offer dine-in service, but the emphasis will be on take-out and delivery. Such restaurants will feature a special menu starting at $10.

Area restaurants participating in the event from Friday, July 24 through Aug. 2 are:

  • Maxine’s Chicken and Waffles
  • Tea’s Me Indy
  • Chef Oya’s The Trap
  • Black Bowe Bistro & Bakery
  • His Place Eatery

Other Black-owned eateries to consider supporting are:
