BARcelona Tapas closes downtown Indianapolis location

INDIANAPOLIS -- BARcelona Tapas restaurant closed its downtown Indianapolis location Sunday after nearly 10 years.

The small plates dining experience was located on the corner North Delaware Street and East Ohio Street and has been serving Spanish tapas in the downtown area since 2007.

A sign was placed on the front door of the restaurant addressing the immediate closure. The letter read: 

“We are sad to announce BARcelona Tapas Restaurant will be permanently closing for business, effective immediately. We want to thank each and every one of our loyal patrons for all they’ve done for us, and for not only being our guests but becoming our friends and family.”
 

Frank Schmitz, the owner of BARcelona Tapas in Indianapolis, also owns another location of the restaurant in St. Louis released a statement:

“It  has  been  my  honor  to  share  BARcelona  Tapas  Restaurant  with the  people of Indianapolis over the past 10 years. I want to thank each and every one of our loyal patrons for all they’ve done for us, and for not only being our guests but becoming our friends and family. It also has been an honor and privilege to work with our staff, and I am grateful for their loyalty and dedication.
“It was my greatest hope that we could continue to operate and grow BARcelona Tapas
Restaurant in Indianapolis, now and for the future. Unfortunately, due to a variety of
factors we are unable to keep the Indianapolis location open.”

Guests of the restaurant who are concerned about upcoming reservations, unused gift cards, or other needs relating to the Indianapolis location are directed to called the BARcelona Tapas' main office, located in St. Louis at (314) 802-7430.
