Boone County deputy accidentally discharges firearm

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. -- A Boone County Sheriff's Office probationary deputy was cleaning his firearm in his Zionsville apartment when it discharged out his back glass patio door.

The round traveled into an unpopulated wooded area near The Reserve at William's Glen, the apartment complex where Deputy Cameron Thomas lives. No injuries were reported. 

The Sheriff's Office said they are currently conducting an internal investigation and will be forwarded to the firearms review board.
