MUNCIE — All adoptions at the Muncie animal shelter have been suspended effective immediately amid COVID-19 concerns.

Muncie Animal Care and Services suspended adoptions of all animals until further notice to reduce personal contact at the shelter, according to a tweet from Muncie ACS.

Employees will still be providing animal control services for the city and Delaware County with precautionary measures, according to the tweet.

No volunteers will be allowed to help at the shelter, according to the tweet. Staff members will still be working at the shelter.

If you need to reclaim an animal you own, you must make an appointment first, according to the tweet.
