INDIANAPOLIS -- An officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was hurt late Thursday in a hit-and-run on the city's southwest side.
The officer was hit near the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Southport Road.
The driver was caught a short time later by Johnson County deputies.
The IMPD officer was taken to the hospital to be checked out, but his injuries weren't serious.
