Man shot, killed on Indy's east side

INDIANAPOLIS -- A man was shot and killed early Friday morning on Indianapolis' east side.

Police found the body while on a welfare check run to the Teal Run Apartments, near the intersection of 21st Street and Mitthoefer Road.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department found a man in his 20s slumped behind the wheel of a car.

Police say he was shot in the neck or back of the head. Foul play is suspected.

The man's identity has not been released. 

Police are also trying to determine the identity of a woman who was found on Indianapolis' near-east side around 3:30 a.m.
