INDIANAPOLIS -- Three men have been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies on Indianapolis' northeast side late Monday night.
The robberies occurred near the intersection of 38th Street and Mitthoeffer Road.
Police were responding to the reports of armed robberies in the area when they found an man in an apartment stairwell who had been shot.
He said two men came up to him and asked for a cigarette. When he said he didn't have any, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot him as he ran toward his apartment.
The suspects took the victim's cash and cell phone then took off. Police say the victim is in stable condition.
During their investigation, detectives were able to determine there were at least two other armed robberies believed to have involved the same two suspects.
The suspects were arrested during a traffic stop along with a third man police also believe is connected to the robberies.
