INDIANAPOLIS -- Three people were arrested after shots were fired at an IMPD officer Friday morning during a chase.

The incident began around 4:30 a.m., near the intersection of Washington Street and Mitthoeffer Road.

Police were in the area for a "covert investigation" when they saw a burglary in progress. The suspects ran from police in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. During the chase, the suspects shot at police, according to an IMPD spokesperson.

No officers were hit and no vehicles were hit. One suspect tried to get away in a Gator vehicle, the spokesperson said.

Police say one of the suspects tossed a gun somewhere near the intersection of Washington and Mitthoeffer. They are asking anybody in the area to search their yards.

Officers arrested Michael Hostetter, 18, Steven Cosand, 18, and Daltyn Randolph, 19.

Police have lifted the lockdown and told all nearby Warren Township schools to resume normal operations.

A perimeter was set up south of Washington Street, east of Post Road, north of Rawles Avenue and west of Mitthoeffer Road. The perimeter was lifted around 7:20 a.m.
