EDINBURGH, Ind. -- An Edinburgh man is accused of claiming to be a U.S. Marshal while refusing to leave a woman's property.
Columbus police say Gregory A. Simpson, 32, entered the backyard of a house in the 2900 block of McKinley Avenue in Columbus Friday afternoon. The homeowner called police after Simpson told her he didn't have to leave her property because he was a U.S. Marshal.
When police talked to Simpson, he told them he had been a U.S. Marshal while in the military.
He was arrested and taken to Columbus Regional Hospital, since officers on the scene believed he was under the influence of drugs.
After he was released from the hospital, Simpson was jailed on the following preliminary charges:
- Public intoxication
- Impersonating a police officer
