INDIANAPOLIS -- Two teenagers were taken into custody Friday morning following a SWAT situation on Indianapolis' south side.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department say the 15 and 16-year-old are believed to be connected to a suspected drug-related homicide that happened Thursday night.

Someone called 911 around 8 p.m. Thursday to report that a person on their porch was bleeding from the face. Police followed a blood trail to a home in the 1900 block of S. Union Street where a 20-year-old man was found shot dead.

An investigation led officers to believe the two suspects were inside a house in the 3500 block of Redwood Drive.

Detectives determined there were other people inside the home with the suspects.  They removed the four adults and two children safely, then attempted to get the juvenile suspects to come out and peacefully surrender.

After about a two-and-a-half hour standoff, SWAT officers deployed tear gas into the house. The suspects came outside and were taken into custody without further incident.

A spokesperson for IMPD says then teenage suspects are facing preliminary murder charges.  The Marion County Prosecutor will have to decide if they will be charged as adults.
