Driver dies after crashing into creek in Delaware County

DELAWARE COUNTY — 19-year-old, Zachary Caldwell, was pronounced dead on Wednesday night after driving into a creek in Delaware County, according to Delaware County Coroner Rick Howell.

There were no other vehicles or people involved. Investigators believe the road conditions were factors in the crash, according to Delaware County Sheriff Chief Deputy, Jeff Stanley.

Emergency responders were called around 7:30 p.m. to the 1200 block of West Bethel Avenue, northwest of Muncie, on the report of vehicle in a pond.

A Delaware County Emergency Communications dispatcher said the driver was transported to I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
