INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s 5th District will remain in Republican control. Victoria Spartz beat Democrat Christina Hale in Tuesday’s election to be the next Congresswoman.

Spartz will replace retiring Republican Susan Brooks. She has served in the Indiana State Senate since 2017 and won the Republican nomination in a crowded field.

Spartz was born in Ukraine, and frequently discusses her childhood in the Soviet-controlled country.

“Growing up in a socialist country, I’ve experienced the failings of government-controlled health care firsthand,” she said in one of her advertisements.

Spartz has called for a return of the policies that got the country to a working economy pre-pandemic. She wants to see less government, less regulation and less taxes. Spartz also has called for workforce development training to help unemployed Americans work on new careers.
