INDIANAPOLIS -- When Caroline Clayton's husband went to pay their IPL bill, the attendant returned the check, saying it was paid by an "anonymous donor."
Caroline had a pretty good idea of who it was.
"I bet you a dollar it's Pat McAfee," she told her husband, knowing of McAfee's history of helping the Indianapolis community.
This year, he upped it to 115 families, including the Claytons.

Their bill wasn't huge (around $60), but it was more about McAfee's generosity and heart that showed the Claytons who he is.
"He shares his gifts with others in lots of ways," Caroline said.
She hasn't had a chance to personally talk to McAfee, and probably won't get the chance, but if she could, she'd thank him on behalf of all 115 families.
"I would thank him again for the kindness he showed for people," she said. "That's something that truly helps people. For some people that's keeping the power on and keeping homes warm."
As for the Claytons, Caroline said she and her husband will look for ways to pay it forward.
"Whether it's keeping a snow shovel in the back of the pickup, or and extra $20 in your wallet for somebody who needs it," she said. "When you see people who owe so much money that it becomes a source of stress, we realize how fortunate we are."
