INDIANAPOLIS — LIFT Academy and Republic Airways are proud supporters of Women in Aviation initiatives. Both organizations actively work to engage women and girls in understanding that a career as a pilot is possible no matter your gender, race, or beliefs.

With the current and increasingly looming pilot shortage, —637,000 pilots will be needed worldwide by the year 2036—the need is great, and the door is open wider than ever. Only 7% of pilots are females.

On October 5, LIFT Academy is hosting the event "LIFT OFF – Females Who Fly" to recruit more women into the industry.

October 5 is 'Girls in Aviation Day.' The day is celebrated worldwide, and LIFT Academy is celebrating it in a big way in Indy with their inaugural LIFT OFF Females Who Fly Summit.

LIFT OFF is an event open to middle and high school students that features female leaders and executives in the aviation industry. Each will lead the round table discussions, and a keynote fireside chat to inspire confidence for the attendees. The leaders will also offer advice and encouragement to help the students pursue careers and passions in STEM careers that have traditionally been male-dominated.

Girls will have the opportunity to meet female aviation leaders, receive FREE LIFT swag, and have lunch with girls from other parts of Indiana interested in aviation.
