INDIANAPOLIS -- Two men were shot and killed Friday morning on Indianapolis' east side.

The shooting happened near the 900 block of N. Oxford Street.

Police believe the incident began just after midnight with a run of shots fired on the 1300 block of Oxford.

There was a welfare check call around 5 or 5:30 a.m., when one victim was found in the street, and the other in a car.

At 6:30 a.m., police had a family member detained in handcuffs at the scene.

There were no shell casings found with the victims, but one handgun was found underneath one of the victims.

Friday afternoon, police identified the victims as 26-year-old Kendall Howell and 48-year-old Kevin Sargent.
