LAWRENCE, Ind. -- The lockdown has been lifted for three schools in Lawrence after a shooting Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of 56th Street and Shadeland Avenue.
Police say there was a confrontation between some people at a Marathon gas station, and then one man opened fire.
A witness ran to a nearby private security for help and they called police.
The victim was taken to Eskenazi Hospital with a gunshot wound to the hip. Police say the injury is not believed to be life threatening.
Officers located two men and an SUV they believe were involved.
A baby had also been in the SUV, according to investigators. The child was found safe and turned over to relatives.
Harrison Hill Elementary, Belzer Middle School and Lawrence Central High School were on lockdown during the investigation.
