PITTSBORO, Ind. -- Around 55 goats died in a barn fire near Pittsboro Tuesday.
A member of the Pittsboro Fire Department said the fire began just before 7 a.m., at the farm near 250 E and 500 N.
Crews were able to salvage a tractor inside the barn.
It is unknown exactly how the fire started, but there were heaters inside for the goats and their water bowls, which could have started it.
One firefighter suffered a slight injury to his back and was transported to Hendricks Regional Hospital.
The goats were being raised for the 4-H Fair.
