INDIANAPOLIS — Nearly six months after Ava was born, she went home from Riley Hospital for Children for the first time Thursday.

Ava, who was born with a congenital condition, needed multiple surgeries and care before she could go home.

Jacob and Alyssa Breeden, Ava's parents, say they are happy they've finally arrived to this happy day for them.

"A whirlwind, I guess would be a good way to describe it," Alyssa said. "We have been here since Ava's birth, for the last five and a half months. We have had a lot of help to get her to a good healthy stable place that she is in today."

Ava will go home with her parents and two-year-old brother, Tilman.
