WHITESTOWN — A homeowner was pulled out of a burning home Saturday night in Whitestown by two good Samaritans passing by.

The fire was reported to the Whitestown Fire Department around 11 p.m. on Dusty Sands Road in the Walker Farms subdivision.

The homeowner was conscious when firefighters arrived and taken to Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition with second and third-degree burns, WFD Chief Josh Westrich said in an email. The two good Samaritans who rescued them were checked out and released by medical personnel at the scene.

An injured firefighter was also checked out by medical personnel and released at the scene.

It took firefighters about an hour to get the fire under control, Westrich said. Personnel from the Zionsville and Lebanon fire departments and Boone County EMS assisted the Whitestown Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
