INDIANAPOLIS -- Zionsville residents can enjoy their piece of mind -- their city has been named the safest city in Indiana.
The ranking comes from Alarms.org, an extension of the National Council for Home Safety and Security.
The study weighed violent crimes and property crimes per capita in each city. Zionsville had 1.15 violent crimes and 4.02 property crimes per 1,000 people.
Zionsville is annually ranked one of the safest cities in Indiana, and in America. In 2017, Zionsville was ranked No. 74 safest city in America.In 2016, It was ranked the safest place in Indiana.
St. John in Lake County is No. 2, followed by Hamilton County's Carmel and Fishers, then Dyer, also in Lake County.
